Microwave Flexible Coaxial Cable Alternative to Semirigid Coaxial Cable
Low Loss Microwave Interconnect and Wireless Base Station Interconnect
Spiral Strip Shield Microwave Coaxial Cable employs a thin helical wrap of silver plated copper tape and overall braid sized such that standard solder-on connectors can be used. MHD SS_Cables were developed 10 years ago and have been widely adopted for the commercial and industrial, military application. RG-405SS Cable are flexible alternatives to semi-rigid coaxial cable, and the unique shielding configuration offers a cost effective, low attenuation. The use of silver plated spiral strip and silver plated copper round wire braid composite shields results in low transfer impedance levels. The 50 ohm constructions exhibit the same attenuation characteristics as the M17/133-RG405 cable. RG-405SS Cable have VSWR characteristics that meet or exceed similar size flexible constructions. RG-405SS have been designed with diameters over the outer braids of 086” respectively, so standard SMA connectors may be used.
• Meets all MIL-C-17 Requirements
• Excellent Shielding Effectiveness
• Low Passive Intermod ( PIM )
• Stable Loss, Phase, & VSWR vs Flexing
• Uses Standard Solder-on Semirigid Connectors
Features & Benefit
Major Characteristics
• Passive Intermod
Typically > -150dBc ( 2x 20 watt carriers )
• Shielding Effectiveness
Comparable to standard Semi-Rigid and like Semi-Rigid is beyond measurable limits.
• Small and Light Weight
Lighter Weight than Standard Semi-Rigid Coaxial Cable of the same size.
• Phase Stable
Spiral Strip SPC tape outer conductor minimizes electrical length change with temperature to yield substantial
improvement over equivalent size flexible cables
• Low Loss
MHD SS_Cable can achieve loss comparable to standard CL semirigid coax.
• Attenuation Stability
Silver plated outer conductor prevents oxidation of the conductors thereby minimizing attenuation change vs time.
• Power Handling
Comparable to standard Semi-Rigid Coaxial Cable.
• Corrosion Resistance
Jacketing of the cable with FEP provides excellent protection when cable is deployed in a corrosive environment.
• Formability
The flexible nature of MHD SS_Cable eliminates the need for hand or precision machine bending. MHD SS_Cable is
preterminated in it’s approximate desired length and just ‘plugged in’ using the most convenient/desirable routing.
• Connectors (solder-on)
MHD SS_Cables are available from a variety of sources to fit standard Semi-Rigid coaxial Cable and MHD SS-Cable.
